Frequently Asked Questions

How many games will be played?

8 for flag, 9 for Tiny Mite, and 10 for all other levels. Additional games if the team makes playoffs (8U and above).

When and where are games played?

All games are on Saturdays. Home games at Los Alamitos High School. Away games vary — our conference covers Orange County plus Long Beach, Lakewood, Bellflower, Norwalk and Montebello. Arrive at least 1 hour before kickoff.

Who does the scheduling of the games?

The Orange Empire Conference.

Why must I furnish a copy of my child's report cards?

National Pop Warner rule — every participant age 7+ must prove scholastic fitness to be rostered. If grades don't meet the minimum, an Academic Waiver allows play through September; by October 1st a progress report is required.

Is a baptismal or hospital birth certificate sufficient?

No. Only a certified county birth certificate or a passport.

Why must my child have a physical & release form?

Pop Warner mandates physical clearance. We offer low-cost physicals at spring in-person registrations; otherwise take the PW form to your physician. Discuss medical issues (asthma, allergies) with your head coach before the season.

What is Certification?

In August each team's book (contract, proof of age, photo, medical release) is checked and stamped by an OEC Commissioner, who also runs the official weigh-in. Scholastic fitness is verified the same day.

What equipment must I supply?

Football cleats, athletic supporter (hard or soft cup), integrated football pants or girdle, chin strap and protective mouthpiece.

What does my registration fee cover?

Conference assessments (insurance, national charter, referees), equipment refurbishment, field usage and operating expenses, plus two game jerseys, a picture package and an end-of-season trophy per participant.

What if my child misses practice?

Missing practices may mean limited or no play time that week — a safety issue. Each head coach sets their own absence policy.

Is fundraising mandatory?

Yes, the league-wide fundraiser ($200) is part of registration. Participants may not practice until it's fulfilled.

Can my child play at a different level?

Placement follows Pop Warner age rules. To request a higher level, speak with our Athletic Director or President.
